August/September Adventure

So yes, it's October and I'm just now writing about my quasi adventure, but oh well.  Better late than never.

Labor day weekend took me to Scottsdale, AZ.  I absolutely loved traveling there for work and miss the desert scenery.  For once I went strictly for pleasure and with a boy.

It was a fabulous weekend seeing old friends, meeting new additions, and totally relaxing by the pool!

We stayed at the Phoenician and loved every minute of it!  It's situated at the base of Camelback mountain as has the most gorgeous views, like this one that we got to wake up to each morning!  Hard to hate that view!

Until next time!

Living Room Inspiration

Seems I'm always slacking these days on updating this.  To those of you who actually read this (Mom and Kristen) this is for you!

A while back I found these pillows at Z Gallerie.  Loved the colors- some pink, some teal, mustard, coral, tan, cream- what's not to love?  Oh ya!  Their price of $70 a piece!

So after much perusing to try and find something I liked better, I came across the exact same fabric at Calico Corners.  I ended up getting enough fabric to make the pillows, recover my dining chairs, and make some coordinating pillows- well I have to buy inserts for those first but eventually!

There's still a lot lacking, like curtains, a rug, a tv from this century, pictures, but well it all takes time!

Monthly Adventures

I'm starting to lose my mojo when it comes to monthly adventures.  I had such high hopes of really pushing myself out of my comfort zone.

January: Classes Galore (Sewing, Quilting, & Knitting)
February: Underground Zip lining
March: New Job! & My 1st 5k- The Color Run
April: Tennis Lessons
May: Ziplining in Gatlinburg & starting the home buying process
June: Buying a HOME!
July: ????- I slacked!
August: I have something in mind, but won't be sharing it until September....

I'd love some ideas on things to fill up September through December!  They don't necessarily have to be physically adventurous items, but just things that push the envelope.

Ready, set, leave me some ideas!

Friday's Find: Real World Pregnancy Calendar

I haven't posted a Friday Find in a while.  Why you ask?  Well, I haven't found anything that I feel I really need to share.  But alas, I have a find for you!  The Real World Pregnancy Calendar.  It's actually another blog for you but not the typical girl that relays decorating ideas, recipes, etc.

It's from a guy.  Austin to be exact.  He's a great guy that I volunteer with.  He's also the only person under 60 that doesn't speed.  No joking- he doesn't speed at all.  He drives the speed limit and in the right hand lane, even on 285!

How is his blog different than all the others out there?  Maybe I should just let his "About" section do the talking.

"Everybody knows “that” pregnant girl. If you have been pregnant there is a 103.2% chance that you were “that” pregnant girl. The one that talks incessantly about being pregnant, her unborn child, her morning sickness, her swelling ankles, her oh so supportive husband (who in reality isn’t really all that supportive…he’s just scared of what those hormones would do if he didn’t pretend), and of course posts all about it on Facebook.
We all really don’t like that girl very much. Don’t get me wrong…we like HER…just not Pregnant Her. So, while she is posting weekly updates about her babies growth in our news feed (along with every other pregnant girl we know) the real world is reacting very differently.
How is she to know that? Her hormones have blinded her to the real world…in her mind the whole world has been put on pause for
9 Months
excuse me…I can’t say that without getting my head chopped off. Because Pregnant Girl spends 23.4% of her pregnancy correcting everyone that things pregnancy is 9 Months. Its 40 weeks. In fact, if you don’t have kids she preemptively tells you by saying things like, “I’m 13 weeks along. Only 27 more weeks. You know that pregnancy is 40 weeks…not 9 months right?!?”
So this blog is for YOU the friend of the pregnant girl. You loved her before her pregnancy and you will love her after her pregnancy. This little blog was written for the 40 weeks of HELL you are going to go through DURING her pregnancy."

Definitely, take a look.  It's amazing!  My favorite is the Reader Mailbag!

To my three girlfriends that are currently pregnant, I mean this when I say you three are a rarity that don't fall into this category- at least yet :)

My biggest commitment yet

I mentioned last month that I've decided to buy a house.  Well, I spent my weekend looking at refrigerators, sofas, and packing because I CLOSE IN 3 WEEKS!  I wasn't expecting it to happen this quickly, but it has.

One Thursday after work, my mom and I drove around "window shopping" at some of the houses/townhouses that I liked online.  It's surprising how many real estate agents, don't call interested buyers back.  This is how I found my agent.  He was and is the only agent to call me back!  I loved that he changed his voicemail daily to let you know his schedule.  We met Saturday afternoon to discuss what I was looking for and shortly there after I fell in love with my first place!

That's right I saw it and immediately fell in love with the first place I stepped foot into!  Now, I did look at another place for comparison but it didn't really compare.  Did I mention that just 45 minutes earlier I let my agent, Dan, know that I am probably the most commitment phobic person he will ever meet?  I had to eat my words, because I desperately wanted the house.

After a few rounds of negotiating, a successful inspection, and appraisal I should be a homeowner by the end of the month!

Here's a sneak peak of my soon to be First Place!

May's Adventure

May is coming to an end and I have two adventures to share with you all.  Earlier in the month I had a company retreat to Gatlinburg.  Our cabins were amazing and I would definitely recommend them, especially if you have a large family or group going!

During one afternoon we took a break from all of our meetings and had the opportunity to choose one of three team building activities.  Here's the breakdown of choices: High Adventure- Zip lining, Low Adventure- Horseback Riding, and No Adventure- the Aquarium.  If you know me then you know the No Adventure option was completely out.    Now when I filled out my sheet prior to going my fabulous boss talked me into horseback riding since I had just gone zip lining (you may remember it was my February Adventure).  Well, when push came to shove my fabulous boss decided she was more no adventure than low.  I haven't been horseback riding since God only knows when, maybe high school?  So it could have been an adventure, but in reality it probably wasn't going to be all that thrilling.

Thankfully, there was a spot open in the High Adventure group and I snagged it.  I mean the place, CLIMB Works is rated #1 on  Let me tell you, it did not disappoint.  Amazing views, thrilling zips and even a snake scare at the end- scared one of our guides so bad she left us in the dust as she ran away!  But I don't blame her!  This course was much more thrilling and adventurous than the underground zip course.  Not that that one wasn't fun, this one was just much more thrilling.  When you're underground you can't quite grasp how high you are compared to the bottom, as most of the time you couldn't see the bottom. If you're ever in the area, you won't regret going to CLIMB Works!

Sadly, this is about the only picture I have...

So what's my second adventure for May.  I've decided to buy a house.  With my new job, I'm not traveling and therefore need and should move out from the rents.  It just made sense when looking at the price of renting vs. owning.  This is a huge step for me as I typically go the opposite way of committing to things and I also move A LOT!!  I've moved over 10 times in the last 10 years, so looking at a place that I'll have a mortgage for is a but daunting.  So keep me in your prayers as I make some big decisions.

What are your plans for the long weekend?  I'm headed to see one of my besties, Brittany!
